Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PMJAY) Categories
Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also recognised as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, is a healthcare scheme launched by the Government of India. The scheme or yojana aims to provide financial support and protection to economically weaker sections of society by providing access to quality healthcare services. The scheme also aims to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure by developing Health and Wellness Centers and creating a network of public and private hospitals across the country. In addition, the programme includes the Senior Citizen Health Insurance Program (SCHIS) and the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY).
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the healthcare programme, one of the largest government-sponsored healthcare programmes in India, with the goal of covering more than 50 crore Indian citizens and nearly 10 crore underprivileged households without age or family size restrictions.
For the impoverished segment of society, secondary and tertiary healthcare is now totally cashless thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The beneficiary of this programme may use an e-card to access healthcare services and around 1,400 medical procedures at any hospital that has been approved, public or private, across the nation.
