The Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana is an excellent initiative started by the Indian government. It provides additional economic benefits to the child up until all of the child's initial vaccines have been administered, in addition to financial help for the mother. The government is attempting to help pregnant and feeding mothers by reforming several health programmes. One of these programmes is the PMMVY, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which is a government scheme for pregnant ladies, redesigned by our honourable Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

Arrow Arrow

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is designed to fulfil pregnant and feeding mothers' dietary requirements and monetary needs. It focuses on providing them with needed nutrition during the crucial stages of foetus development and ensures the safety of mother and child.

Dietary Needs

A pregnant woman and a nursing mother require additional nutrients to be able to feed the baby well. She needs to eat at least 200 calories more each day than what is recommended for her, given her height and weight. According to the World Health Organisation, a newborn should only be given breast milk for the first 180 days of life. A mother must first take enough nourishment to comply with this demand. Only then would it be feasible to provide the baby with the right amount of nutrition.

The PMMVY yojana aids a woman in meeting the additional nutritional requirements of both herself and the unborn child.

Financial benefits

The PM Matru Vandana Yojana programme intends to offer financial incentives to breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women who have lost their jobs due to their continuing pregnancy. However, the plan does not provide any further coverage outside the three payments that must be claimed within 150 days, 180 days, and upon childbirth.
