Keeping Fit During the Festival Season

Posted On : 09 December 2022, 1 Years Ago. Blog

INCREASE THE FUN, NOT YOUR WEIGHT THIS FESTIVE SEASON

Diwali. Party. Revelry. Shopping. Sweets. That pretty much sums up the great Indian festive season. As per a recent survey, there’s a 20 percent spurt of indulgence in sweets across India during the festive season, as compared to other months.

Unfortunately, this is also the time when fitness and diet take a backseat, and by the time the season is over, your weight reaches an all-time high. Though. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can still make merry and keep that weight in check. Here’s how:

DON’T MAKE A COCKTAIL OF YOUR HEALTH

Festivities and alcohol are synonymous. What’s important is what alcohol you pour in your glass. Drinks like cocktails should be avoided at all cost since it’s a mixture of alcohol and drinks with plenty of fizz and sugar. These drinks leave you bloated along with extra calories. Instead, you can have whiskey on the rocks. Red wine has plenty of benefits too. Another important tip, avoid Alcohol on an empty stomach, instead eat a healthy snack before you sip in the alcohol.

EXERCISE DURING THE REVELRY

Missed out your morning workout because of a late night. Well, guess what? You can exercise at the party too. If you’re drinking, well lose a few pounds by shaking a leg at the party. Did you know, you can burn up to 450 calories per hour just be dancing. So, now you’ve got a good excuse to move and groove. Also, walk around and serve the guests. It will help you earn compliments and lose that extra weight.

TAKE SWEETS IN MODERATION AND SWEAT IT OUT

It gets difficult saying no to barfi or laddoo during the festive season. However, you can have just a small bite to satiate your taste buds instead of gorging it down your throat. If you feel guilty the next morning, go for a quick workout in the gym or outdoors to get your body ready for another night of sweet, food and celebration.

GET YOUR HEALTH FLOWING WITH WATER

Alcohol and sweets tend to make you dehydrated, which is the last thing you want during a party. Drink lots of water as it will help in digestion and also keep you away from the hangover the next morning. In fact, lime and warm water is a great way to detox your body after those heavy meals and alcohol. Green tea is also a great option to cleanse your body.

SLEEP TIGHT, GET YOUR HEALTH RIGHT

Lack of sleep and rest leads to fatigue, acidity, and indigestion. Therefore, you need to sleep well in order to wake up fresh and healthy in the morning. Do you know your body is burning calories while you sleep, just another great excuse to slumber after the party fever?

DON’T BE SWEET. GO NUTS

They say big things come in a small package. Dry fruits are a perfect example of this. They have plenty of proteins, essential fats, and other nutrients to keep us energized during the day. For all those sugar-free fans, here’s a little news. Sugar-free is made up of artificial sweeteners that actually do more harm than good to your body.
